How do I convince my Mom not to put the dog down?

My mom wants to put my dog down. She’s old… but not sick or anything. What should I do?? I love my dog!

Answer #1

Have a heart-to-heart with Mom and come to an agreement as to when it would be in the dog’s best interest - not an easy decision, but eventually may be necessary…I wish you the best !!

When dog’s get old, it’s just like humans. They start to feel alot of pain and stop moving around so much and start sleeping alot. This happens it doesn’t necessarily show or mean that they’re sick. Most people do end up putting their dogs down as an act to keep them from feeling too much pain (I recently put my retriever down because he was really old and was in a lot of pain). But like sikashimmer said, if you’re really not wanting to put the dog down, take the dog to the vet and ask for an opinion. It may turn out that it may be best for the dog for the dog to get put down, but hopefully not because I know how hard it is to lose a pet you love dearly.

Good luck! =]

i agree with most if the dog is hurting or sick then it’s best to put it down if not then just talk with your mom in see why she wants to put it down maybe it’s getting on her nerves or she’s getting sick because of it

Answer #4

If theres nothing wrong with the dog,and if its healthy, then i wouldnt put it down. But If its sick, and suffering or if its having a hard time moving aorund or somehting, then id consider it. You can always ask the Vet what they think the dogs best interest is.

Sit down with your mom and talk with her. Weigh the pros and cons and maybe take the dog to the vet and get the vet’s opinion.

Hope this helps!
