What's the correct term for someone who is in prison? Prisoner, convict, inmate, or jailbird?
It depends.
A Prisoner is one who is deemed confinement in a controlled environment.
A Convict is basically someone convicted of a crime.
An Inmate is the term used describing a person who is on the inside, for exp:
"Two Inmates went to the weight room and pumped some Iron."
And Jailbird, is someone who tries to, or successes in an escape.
If you are speaking of someone who is in jail, you would just say he or she is incarcerated.
what do you mean correct term? inmate, incarcerated, there is a few.
I suppose the PC answer would be: Involuntary Vacation.
