What's a detox diet?

Is the point of it only to loose weight ?

A detox (detoxification) diet is meant to clean your system of the various impurities that may have accumulated in it. Many people think it’s a good way to start a diet - clearing the decks and starting with a ‘clean slate’ so to speak.

It is not specifically meant for losing weight, though - and recently, several medical studies have indicated that the body desn’t benefit all that much forom fancy ‘detox’ diets or commercial preparations. Simply spending a few days drinking lots of natural liquids (clean water, pure fruit juice) does the same job, they say.
