I love to sing. im not the greatest singer, but I do enjoy it! I started going to vocal lessons. they are just a watse of money, I learned the same things over and over. it was pointless. I sing all the time, I wanna know what I can avoid that will make my singing voice worse. please help?
Smoking, Yelling, Drinking cold Liquids a lot, and Straining your voice.
don't smoke period, it can affect you lungs, and your lungs plays a big role in singing don't yell a lot it can damage you vocal chords, and make you lose your voice drinking a lot of cold liquids can cause, or develop mucus in your throat, and singing with mucus in you throat can cause a lot of breaks in your voice. Don't strain your voice, in other words when ever you are singing and you feel your throat is tightening up, stop. breathe. whenever you feel your throat tightening up that means you are singing from your throat and not your diaphram.
Um, smoking, of course! I'm a smoker and I sing here and there, and my voice is excellent. But I bet by time I'm nineteen my voice will be all messed up. So that's why I need to quit. :P Singing involves a lot of breath, and you have to be able to breathe well. Soda sounds reasonable as well. Don't drink milk BEFORE you sing, 'cause mucus will get in your throat and stuff. I know, nasty. But that doesn't mean you should never drink it. Screaming at the top of your lungs, too. I know a lot of bands do it, such as SlipKnoT and such, but it's not the most brilliant idea.
everybody is right you definatly have to take care of your voice, I've had to learn this the hard way lol . avoid yelling when you start getting a soar throat try not to talk as much and don't whisper because that will just make it worse.. in cold weather wear a scarf drink warm liquids when sick and don't strain your voice, when ever I'm in a musical or I have an upcoming concert the day before I try not to talk or I don't talk period lol and don't sing when your sick
Soada it burns your throught. Orange juice beacuse it highly acidic. Screaming. always warm up beacuse if you dont your voice wont be ready and it can hurt it. Drink room temperature water before you sing beacuse if its to hot it will burn your throught and if its cold it will tighten your singing muscles making it harder to sing. I no this beacuse my sister is a singer and she makes me listen to her.
Just don't start signging before your voice changes because you will not be able to sing then, I know a lot of people who have had it happened to them.
