What is the correct temperature, and how to obtain it?

Yesterday I bought a blue/teal/purple betta fish. He is really beautiful and an image of health. I keep him in a rather large bowl (1- 1 1/2 gallon) with a fake plant, conditioned tap water, and pebbles. I bought a thermometer today, and his water is at around 60 degrees fahrenheit. The lady at the pet store said I didn’t need a heater, but I’m not sure. He is looking happy and healthy, his fins are getting longer, his color is noticeably brighter, and he glides around the tank happily. Is 60 too cold? How can I get it warmer? What happens when the water is too cold? Thanks!

yeah if it seems fine, don’t heat the tank. and I’m happy to hear that your fish is doing well :) I think 60 degrees is good bc my brother’s tank temp is 62.
