What is the answer and how did you work it?

I need help with algebra. so what would ‘’x’’ be if the problem is y-6x=5 and ‘’y’’ is zero. plus how did you figure it out. Thanx♥

Answer #1

well you put in ‘y’

0-6x = 5

-6x = 5

(divide both sides with -6)

x = 5/-6

x = -5/6

Answer #2

So you just have to plug in the variable you have, isolate, then solve for your other variable.

y-6x=5 0-6x=5 (plug in your why variable) 0-5=6x (isolate the variable, and when number move sides, the signs are inversed) -5=6x -5/6=6x/6 (whatever is done to one side has to be done to the other, and you want x alone so you divide by 6) -0.83=x (final form, I rounded the decimal though theres a lot of 3’s following it)
