What is Socratic questioning?

What is Socratic questioning? I need to come up with a 200 word response for a particular question and state my opinion, but I don’t know what socratic questioning means.

I know what it is in counseling, but that’s a little specific, this is what I have… from what I understand it is basically a way of asking questions to challenge the person to think differently…

If you will ask a question or series of questions to which your prospect will readily agree, then ask the concluding question (based upon the agreements); you will force a desirable response.
