What is happening to my belly ring?

I got my belly button pierced last tuesday and I got it done on the top. I clean it with dial soap 2-3 times daily and after each wash I use Palmers cocoa butter over my skin where the bar is. I make sure the cocoa butter dosent touch either of the two holes. so why is the area around my top hole so red and sort of puffy??? (it had been red before the cocoa butter because I just started using the cocoa butter yesterday…)

My cousin owns a shop and this is what he recommends. Wash it daily when you are in the shower with an antibacterial soap. Put just a little on the ring and run it in and out. Then run it in and out as you rinse. Make sure to rinse it well and get all the soap off. Only use a SINGLE antibiotic ointment, not a triple like and don’t use Neosporin. They are to harsh on the freshly pierced skin and will cause an irritation. The redness you are describing sounds like it is irritated a little. Do the things above and you should be fine.

I would say its just healing sometimes girls get rednes and evensome pus/ crust this all should go away within a few weeks or months your bodys just cleaning and healing the new wound do try and keep the palmers stuff well away from the new peircing, as that will agrivate it more try a sea salt soak to clean it too 1 tablespoon sea salt in 1 cup warm water you can put a cloth in it and keep it on your navle for about 15mins also dont overclean it, do clean it but not exessively if it changes colour like purple, green go back to the peircer, a doctor or take it out the same goes if the are is constantly hurting and painfull any more questions, jusk ask!

Answer #5

don’t worry about it.. just keep making sure you clean it with peroxide… it helps very good. I just got mine done a few months ago. 2 days it started getting ready, and I was crazy with cleaning it.. like every hour. I think it just happens because it’s starting to accept the skin or whatever.. everyones skin is different.. hope I helped ya.
