What is better for a violin?

Is a case dampit better that one that goes inside I would like to know because I am not that good at tuning by ear so I would like my violin partially in tune

Answer #1

Violins do not stay in tune. Even if you could keep temperature and humidity exactly constant it still wouldn’t stay in tune. You should tune your instrument every time you play. The more practice you get the better you will get at it. Electronic tuners make it easiest to tune violins though after you play for a while you will be able to tune 5ths well enough to tune all your strings quickly after hearing an A.

I saw something really cool called Perfection Pegs. These are peg replacements that have the fine tuner built in. The knobs have a 4:1 gear reduction making tuning easy even without fine tuners in the tailpiece.
