What is a very good mythology book to read?

Not quite sure if this falls within the category you are after but Jack the Ripper is one of the most fantastic murderer / unsolved mystery /very well known folklore about a killer in the 1800’s century who got away with slaughtering numerous prostitutes in such a way that hinted he was a medical practitioner or someone is high society and to this day, no-one living or dead has ever ‘unmasked’ the killer.

I’m a huge fan of R.A. Salvatore’s Dark Elf books, but he ventures out into other types of literature as well.

I’m heavily into Norse Mythology. I’d recommend you read the Prose Edda, it’s one of the most basic books. The Poetic Edda is absolutley beautiful, I’d recommend Hollanders translation. The Icelandic Sagas are another wonderful read, if it’s the kind of topic you’re into. For Roman myth the Aeneid is good, as is the Iliad for the Greeks.
