What is a curviture of the spine?

Hi I was wondering what a curviture of the spine is, because my cousin has a very bad curviture of the spine and needs a operation. Will this make it fine again? Will this stop her from doing sports etc? because she really enjoys sport and does a lot of it. Thank you for answering!! :)

one of my friends had surgery for his scoliosis, like if he wanted to he couldve curled into a ball and rolled to class his back was so bad. he was outa school for 2 weeks after and now was a metal pole in his back.

Ichi explained what a curvature of the spine is pretty well. Its also called Scoliosis. Surgery is withheld for patients who typically have a 45 degree curve or greater. Some doctors go down to 40 degress but nothing less than 40 degrees gets surgery.

In most cases after surgery they can return to sports in roughly 1 year. I had a friend in Highschool who had the surgery and returned to cheerleading 1 year post-op.

A curvature of the spine is when the spine has a bend to it instead of going straight down the back.

We can’t really say how she’ll fair after surgery because it depends a lot on how bad the curvature is to begin with.
