What?? I need help! How do you solve this?

Just tell me the steps to solving this please. I get lost and my parents don’t know algebra. b^2=10b-16. 7x^2-9x+2.

Answer #1

If they’re separate problems then there’s 2 ways to solve it, completing the square or quadradic. For completing the square:

The foundation equation is: Ax^2+Bx-C or in this case x is b NOT B

Move the 10b to the left so you get: b^2-10b=-16 Then take (B/2A)^2 and add that to both sides so… 10/2=(5)^2 or 25

                                                                b^2-10b+25=-16+25

Then factor (b-5)(b-5)=9 So… (b-5)^2=9 Take the square root of both sides: b-5=3 Then, add the 5: b=8

Answer #2

or, to simplify life…

b^2=10b-16 b^2-10b=-16 b^2-10b+16=0

what are the factors of 16 1,16 -1,-16 2,8 -2,-8 4,4 -4,-4

which of those factors adds up to -10 -2, -8

so…

(b-2) (b-8) = 0

b = 2 b = 8

7x^2-9x+2.

what are the factors of 7x^2 7x, x

what are the factors of +2 2,1 -2,-1

(7x - 2) (x-1) = 7x^2-9x+2.

7x-2 = 0 7x = 2 x = 2/7

x-1 = 0 x = 1
