Is he lying to me to cover up the fact he likes me?

Ok so im a freshman aaand I used to have sex and hookup with guys all the time but ever since I got dumped in march I started to like stop doing that stuff and now I like this other guy whos never even kissed anyone before. He started texting me and flirting like crazy and people always were telling me he likes me and I was positive he was into me, because there was no way hes not. We text 24/7 so either he likes me or we just became real good friends all of a sudden… So then we were texing and I asked who he likes and he tells me he likes this other chick whos dating a senior and im like woww because he has never talked to this girl in his life and shes totally not interested in him. Ok so is he lying to me to cover up the fact he likes me? Would guys do that? Should I tell him I like him? If si how should I do it? Help please

well no offence but since you said you used to hook up and stuff with guys maybe thats all he wants ? if you think about it . I mean once you hook up with a guy that guy is obvious gonna tell someone who tell someone and well yea you get the point . he may be covering up but I think you should just ask him . and be straight up about it .
