just forwarding:

One of the best things you can do for yourself and for your baby, besides prenatal yoga, is walk. Walk around the block, walk around the park, or walk on the treadmill. Keep it at a moderate pace (you should be able to talk without any trouble) and keep it relatively short. Sorry, no marathons!

Walking throughout pregnancy ensures that your body keeps up a level of health and fitness, making it easier to lose those pregnancy pounds after delivery. Walking eases constipation, along with aches and pains, helping you to sleep better at night. Keeping up your fitness will also improve your endurance during labor.

If you are already walking, keep up with your regular program. Otherwise, begin walking 20 to 30 minutes three times per week. Work up to every day at 30-60 minutes per day. It is better to take a couple of shorter walks, rather than one long walk. Just do what feels comfortable to you.

Now that you are pregnant, you may have noticed that your center of gravity and mass have changed dramatically. This may give you a reason to go out and purchase some new walking shoes. Get some good shoes with extra ankle support if you make walking a habit.

Always consult your doctor before starting any new exercise programs when pregnant. If you feel any dizziness or experience any pain or bleeding, stop immediately and consult your doctor.

With common sense and moderation, you should be able to enjoy a walking routine throughout all of your nine months of pregnancy. So get outside and enjoy yourself right now!

…good luck…

walking is healthy for you in general and if the moms healthy the babys healthy walking the baby down probaby refures to the fact that the baby is in constant motion in your belly when you walk a lot its like you can almost out the baby to sleep if you noticed when you sit or lay down thats when you get all the kicking or you doc might be refuring to the babys head turning down toward the birth canal but I dont think walking prevolks that

Well, what happened with my sister, is that she was far enough along to “walk the baby down.”

When the baby is inside, it slowly moves towards your vagina and turns upside down to be ready to come up. Maybe the doctors want to speed up your process and walking helps ( i think) move the baby down a bit so it doesnt come in the breech position.

This is what happened to my sister.

Make sure that you are eating a balanced and healthy diet. This would be true, especially if you are breastfeeding. In fact, breastfeeding helps a woman to burn some of those calories, so you actually have a leg up on the bottle feeders. Make sure that you are getting some exercise, I have found that walking is a very good way to shed some pounds, and drink plenty of water. I know that it sounds simplistic, but by doing these few things you will realize the pregnancy weight loss that you want.

Walking a lot in your last few weeks is beneficial as it helps ready you for labour … the baby is better able to move down the birth canal, and you are more physically able to handle it.
