What does this quote mean, how do you interpret it?

I stumbled onto a website while researching and found that this was their quote of the day:

‘Better murder an infant in its cradle than nurse an unacted desire.’

I thought to myself, what does this mean..? Does it involve unplanned pregnancies, abortions…?

What’s your interpretation?

Answer #1

better to kill an innocent than to brood over or waste over your desires or dreams that you dont even try to realize/make possible.

one can lose their mind over desire.

Answer #2

im thinking .. and I may be wrong but it means if you had the desire to lay down and get pregnant why kill the infant in your womb … or if you took the time to have sex … why not take the time to carry that child to term instead of killing it … I want to know what the real meaning is too lol

Answer #3

I take it as: if you aren’t going to put effort into something, don’t start in the first place. I may be getting metaphorical here, but I don’t know what the context is.
