what. does the United States need?

I’m an American and I’m aware of much anti-Americanism in the world. I also realize there are intelligent people outside of the US who know that not all Americans are fat, stupid and ignorant war mongers. but my question is pretty broad. what does the US need? does it need internal programs to strengthen the American community? does it need an exit strategy for the middle east? does it need a new president? anything you can think of would get a good convo going. but lets keep it friendly, I have no time for arrogance and ignorance.

Answer #1

new president. Hell, new senate, congress. I think we just need to clear everyone out of house and elect new, better, less selfish money hungry people.

Answer #2

Fact is, we have the biggest military budget in the world.

Couple that with a government that has been exporting facsism, lies to it’s populace, etc, and it’s pretty easy to see where the problems are.

How to fix it? Well, our citizenry that keeps claiming war is good…should be thrown into one of the conflict zones, to see what they really think based on some experience.

Internationally we are doing much better. Barack Obama is the most admired man in the world. We have backed off a bit from the cowboy foreign policy of Bush and we are talking to more and more of the world community.

I’d like us to get out of the business of nation building. our meddling in the Middle East always turns out badly. We put both Saddam Hussein and the Ba’ath Party in power only to end up fighting them later when their ambitions no longer dovetailed with our own. We supported the Taliban when they were fighting the Soviets but now they are our enemy. We should stop our support of Israel if they don’t stay out of Palestinian territories.

The US also has to start getting off the teat of foreign oil. A huge amount of our trade deficit is from oil. Sending fewer of our dollars to the Middle East would both improve our economy and national security.

As far as being thought fat stupid and arrogant, it would help if we learned a bit more about other countries. The average American is woefully ignorant about the rest of the world and truth be know doesn’t know that much about our own history and government.

Answer #6

i think much of the problems with anti Americanism could be solved if we went after and improved the American community. sure, there are many nice neighborhoods, but there are also a lot of inner city neighborhoods that do little or nothing for the benefit of our country. i suggest a work program to replace welfare. (given that the participants meet the general requirements), meaning that the same amount money/food stamps provided through welfare will be available through a work program to improve the community. like cleaning up dirty neighborhoods, re painting buildings, planting trees or building playgrounds in old, graffiti ridden parks, anything to stimulate motivation among the lower class. instead of being idle and still receiving a government handout at the taxpayers expense. disability is one thing, laziness is something completely different. if you want money from uncle sam, you should be willing to cut his lawn.

The very first thing we need to do is to return to a specie backed representative currency… hopefully the same time we are shuttering the Federal Reserve Bank and relegating the job of the issuance of currency back to the U.S. Treasury Dept… as is mandated by the U.S. Constitution.

Without the fealty system in place… wars of aggression could not be financed… we would no longer need the IRS… the monopolies could not receive their fascist tributes from a spendthrift government. Minor panics could occur but full blown economic recessions and depressions would be things of the past…[panics in scope and severity would be directly related to the scope of foreign central banks… and their ability to direct global monetary policy]

This should be on everyone’s current political agendas. It is past due. The establishment media is trying to distract us from this goal by construing the current political climate to be one based on the charges and defense of race based polity. They figure that is a hot button issue and will set any legitimate agendas off course while another election cycle opportunity… that could have been used to begin to address real issues… is missed.
