what does it mean when someone says walk the line?

what does it mean when someone says walk the line?

Answer #1

police officers ask people they suspect of being drunk to “walk the line”- intoxicated people cannot walk straight and therefore cannot walk the straight line when asked. also, when someone says for instance you are “walking a thin line” it means you are close to being in trouble- for instance, if a child is rude to his parents, the parents might warn the child to be more respectful by saying “you’re walking a thin line there.”

Answer #2

“Walk the line” means to behave yourself, generally.
