Before I tried to shape my life , now I let life shape me.

just my guess.

I see it as being very profound. she feels restricted and tied down but now she has undone her bonds and has become free, ya know?

I think it mean, before when she had braids her hair was kept down, and tight. Now she let the waves spin means her hair is no longer in braids, and its free. you could take it deeper and say she’s refering to herself, using her hair as a metaphor.

but that’s just my guess.
