What do you think ?

What do you think of the fact that any candidate, currently running for President, would refuse to wear an American Flag pin ?

Answer #1

I see, so to wear the American flag pin is unpatriotic…Hmmm, I was taught the opposite, go figure.

Answer #2

The flag is just a symbol. Those who try to elevate it are just practicing idolatry.

Patriotism is the last refuse of a scoundrel. The same people go out of their way to advertise their patriotism are the ones who go against much of what the nation originally stood for.

Answer #3

I’m not so big on ceremonies and rituals these days. The flag doesn’t care if I honor it or not, it doesn’t even care if I burn it or not.

To me it isn’t the flag that is my most important symbol of America, it is the constitution. The constitution is a very special set of laws because they largely limit what our government can do. We are a government of laws and the government itself must abide these laws.

The current administration seems to have utter contempt for our constitution except perhaps the 2nd ammendment.

I’d far prefer a president who defends the constitution like he promised to do than one who follows empty rituals like a good little NAZI then tramples the constitution.

Answer #4

Don’t really care. Pins aren’t all that important in the scheme of running a country.

Obama apparently deemed this too ‘unpatriotic’ - offered no salute during the National Anthem:

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. – United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171
