What do you think ?

Roseanne Barr said today in her Blog: Obama is an empty suit selling “hope” in lieu of Truth. Oprah Winfrey helped to elect Arnold Swartzenegger. I have no doubt that she voted her purse by doing this, as she is a large land owner in California, and that ilk fears Dems because they do not want to pay their “fair share” of Cali tax. Oprah has given us Swartzenegger and Dr. Phil. If that was not offensive enough to decent thinking people, now she brings us Obama. He has no ideas, no plan and nothing to add other than the cynical pacification of the masses with bedtime stories about hope, while calling Unions “special interest groups” that need to be done away with. Obama votes with Bush constantly funding this terrible endless war. Oprah, you play the race card and the gender card too. You are a closeted republican and chose Barak Obama because you do not like other women who actually stand for something to working American Women besides glamour, angels, Hollywood and dieting! When Americans find out that Obama backs right wing corporate racist anti worker BS, they will not vote for him, and the victory will go to the most racist right wing republican ever… Mccain, who is a fascist! That the culinary service workers in Vegas have promised barak their vote,( he is anti union in his votes) over Edwards, who is a pro-union man, just proves how stupid Americans are and how they can be tricked so easily by the color of a person’s skin…exactly what MLK hated! Obama doesn’t even back reproductive rights for any woman! It is historical that Oprah Winfrey, beloved of women, chooses a flashy man with small credentials over a seasoned woman politician with 35 years of experience…and sells that to the female demographic who look to her for inspiration! - What do you think of her rant ?

LOL…hmmm…Roseanne Barr - Political Analyst?? Somehow, my gut tells me to “consider the source”.

Oprah has backed Obama, because SHE IS about hope…I don’t particularily lean her way politically…and as a “conservative with exceptions”, as well as an Oprah watcher for 20 some years, I sure have not seen a Republican in disguise.

If you followed Oprah yourself, you’d know that she pours millions upon millions of dollars out to the hopeless, the less fortunate, the undertrodden…not just in the US, but all over the world. Tho, she is possibly the richest self-made woman in the world, she remembers where she came from…and therefore, IS a woman full of hope, a “hope-vendor” so to speak. So it really comes as no surprise that she’d rally for Obama…naively, perhaps, but it’s certainly not out of charactor.

I’ve said it before…I would maybe vote for Hillary, if only she’d tossed Bill’s clothes out on the Whitehouse lawn…:) If she wins the nomination, and then the election…does that make Bill “first debaucher”???

I was rather troubled by Obama in the beginning because his speeches seemed to be heavy on platitudes and rather light on specifics but he has been filling in some of the gaps since.

My fav Democrat is Dennis Kucinich but there is no way he will get the Dem nomination so it comes down to the lesser of the available evils. I like Edwards better than Obama or Clinton though.

Answer #4

The Clinton’s net worth is riding now, at about $50 million…how much of that was “worked for” by Hilliary, we’ll never know…but if I were to choose between Hillary and Oprah as champions of the American working woman, I’d have to jump on Oprah’s wagon…She has INDEED earned every penny, herself…be it thru business, her show, or her investments…

Maybe the Clintons could improve their Karma by handing out 1/2 their net worth, I’m quite sure they’d still live very well on just the interest on $25 million…

4/29/08: FINALLY, Barak ‘I can no more disown Rev. Wright than the black community’ Obama, has had a sudden change - people I know came to that very same conclusion (Wright is wrong) a very long time ago - just 48 hrs ago he was defending Rev. Wright - today the sudden change - some chickens have apparently come home to Roost !

Answer #6

After watching the Obama speech today, I have some Random thoughts:

  • He stated previously that he was not present at any of these inflammatory sermons, yet today said ‘I was’.

  • Previously stated he wasn’t aware Rev Wright was ‘controversial’, yet months ago the reason he gave for canceling Rev Wright to give the prayer at his entering the race announcement was ‘some of his sermons are kind of rough’.

  • His wife is middle-aged, yet she states ‘now is the first time I have been proud of America in my lifetime’ (not exact words but close).

  • it is common for people to judge people by ‘the friends they keep’

  • I find many of Rev Wright’s views frightening for many reasons.

  • it seemed to me he was saying in the overall tone of the message - whites are racist / African-Americans are not.

  • he seemed to equate what Rev Wright said with what Geraldine Farraro said.

  • he remembered what his Grandmother’s views were from childhood, yet not more recent views of Rev Wright.

  • seems to me if you genuinely believe for 20 years he did not notice / figure out what was coming from that pulpit - how can one come to the conclusion as President he would have the ability and awareness to recognize bad judgement, execute due diligence, and be able to accutely discern matters - be an effective Leader of the Country.

  • He is selling himself as very different from Rev Wright, he refuses to totally separate himself.

Again, these are just Random thoughts I had which I think merits ‘food for thought’.

Obama voting:

Obama voted against the confirmation of John Roberts for the Supreme Court, saying he “far more often used his formidable skills on behalf of the strong in opposition to the weak.” He also cast a vote against Samuel Alito and even voted in favor of a filibuster to stall his confirmation. Obama opposed a bill in 2006 that would have denied citizenship or other legal status to illegal immigrants, and voted last year against a measure that would have allowed police to question people about their immigration status under certain circumstance. He voted in favor of the immigration reform bill sponsored by John McCain and Ted Kennedy that would have allowed many illegal aliens to become legal residents. Last October Obama voted for an act that would have allowed illegal immigrants who become permanent legal residents to qualify for lower in-state tuition rates at state universities. That measure was opposed by Democrats in a number of swing states that could be pivotal in this year’s election, MSNBC observed. The Illinois Senator voted against a 2006 bill to prohibit the transportation of a minor girl across state lines to get an abortion if this would circumvent parental consent. Obama voted against a bill extending the cuts in capital gains and dividends tax rates that Congress enacted in 2003, and against the repeal of the tax on inherited wealth, the estate tax. In June 2006, Obama voted against a bill that would have required President Bush to withdraw most U.S. troops from Iraq by July 1, 2007. But this past September, he joined 27 other Democrats in voting for a bill ordering Bush to begin withdrawing most American forces within 90 days. The bill failed to pass. He is against making English the official language.
