What do you guys think about Islam?

what do you guys think about islam? I mean islam really is a beautiful religion. and please. not everyone is a terrorist. muslims pray 5 times a day you know.

  1. before sunrise
  2. noon
  3. afternoon
  4. sunset
  5. before sleeping. the muslims thank their god 5 times a day just because theyre alive. I mean how beautiful is that?? muslims also do not draw or make a shape out of their god (ALLAH) and all his prophets. this is because they do not worship statues or pictures. it makes sence. I mean you dont worship pictures or statues (no offense whatsoever). and that is also why, that british lady got sentenced in Sudan. but I think that was just a big misunderstanding. I know she didnt mean any harm. I think the western just lack knowledge about muslims thats why they hate islam so much, but if you really look into it. it really is a beautiful religion.

mirra: That doesn’t excuse the actions of the sudanese government. Giving someone a “nice cell” for what should be a matter of free speech is pretty appalling.

FWIW, I have nothing against Islam (or Christiantity, or any other religion - if you want to be irrational, go right ahead), but I have real issues with Sharia Law.

Answer #2

continued –because they’are not

Answer #3

if the sudanese governemnt wanted they could have just tlaked to her and sort the issue. I mean she was just trying to charity work which wasnt even appreciated!…I mean I admit it was offensive but how would she know. I mean the sudanese people should be thankful that someone actually went to a country like that and did charity work. laos puttin her in a cell doesnt really seem nice.

Answer #4

this is to amans 13 if you say what you just said and then say no offense its likely you dont mean it because you wouldnt of said it in the first place people have their different religions and their own options on which to base their religions she was asking you advice not asking you to slander her religion

Answer #5

I do have some issues with the sharia law too. but thankfully its only in saudi arabia and countries with strict rules. arachnid: the “nice cell” is a way of saying sorry I guess. for the inconvenience. I donno what really happend. I just read the news. and I think the sudanese didnt really do anything wrong. it was stated in their law. and thats how their law works and hasnt the woman been in sudan for many years? then she should have known. and muslims DO NOT name TOYS, or DRAWINGS and STATUES names of god or prophets. because muslims DO NOT worship THINGS! and it is considered sin (trully, no offense to anyone whatsoever. just trying to make things clear)

Answer #6

ohh. mizzsmith & alesha aliya khan rocks! as the thing that happend in sudan, it was reported that the news got leaked to the public, and the story got exaggerated, later the president told a muslim activist what really happened and they all puuled back the demonsrations. thats why the president also let go of the teacher. she was also treated very nicely in her cell. she got a very nice bed, food (diffrent from other inmates), the sudanese just tried to make her as confortable as possible in her cell.

Answer #7

I don’t have a beef with Islam, Christianity, Paganism, or any RELIGION. My objection is with the extremists and fundamentalists that lose track of the fact that religion, at its core, is meant to guide humanity in getting along with itself. On the books, most religions are a beautiful thing. But few people are willing to admit that at the hands of fundamentalists they can all turn ugly and nasty. From what I’ve seen EVERY religion has or had its group of wackos that say, “If you don’t do as WE say, we will destroy/kill/damn you!” (Here I deleted about 3 paragraphs on that British lady thing.)

Oh, well! From your friendly neighborhood atheist, have a nice day.

Answer #8

stoning only ocurrs in the strictly religious contries like Saudi, arabia etc because they live by the ‘shariah’ ie Islamic Law. On the other hand, Allah forbids anything that causes harm to oneself or another individuals, Muslims believe that the body they have does not belong to them and is given to them by Allah thus they have to look after it, example, keeping clean, avoiding hitting, scratching or anything that may change the feature of the body given. But there are individuls who go against Allah’s words due to misinterpretation and that is why you have extremists etc. If you commit anything that Allah has forbidden you are given the chance to repent and to learn from your action and to avoid comitting it a second time; What punishment you get for your deeds is only to be given by Allah.

Answer #9

I think you should know that the God worshipped by Christians and Jews is the same God muslims worship. In fact in the middle east many christians and jews call God Allah and that is because as a word it is unique and cannot be plural like gods or change into goddess. This is because God is unique, and in many languages the word god is used in other context and to reffer to other gods… As for what links2thedr said, I’m not going to go there but just know this it takes more than to be a good person to go to heaven but then again we cannot say to anyone who’s going to heaven or not, we are not God who is by the way JUST, FAIR and KIND. Only God knows where we are heading. Go to the Islamic Research Foundation they have a lot of materials about Islam. http://www.irf.net/irf/faqonislam/index.htm

Answer #10

this is to links2thedr you cannot voice your opion reffering to all muslims not all muslims are like that in the first place and to say that they pray 5 times a day just to repent for all the sins they commeted is wrong I see you believe in god so if someone were to say this about the perosn that you belive in or slander you god I bet you wouldnt like it so dont go around saying bad things about other peoples beliefs if its not you dont say anything

Answer #11

I understand that not every muslim person is a terrorist. Many of my close friends are muslim, however, you have to admit that when you watch the news when do you ever see a british terrorist or an american? we only see the muslims that try and attack our countries! as for the teacher in sudan I think it was absolutly patetic for the people of sudan to want her killed because she called a teddy bear mohammed!! at the end of the day yes mohammed is a worshipped man but I should imagine in his day he was not the only mohammed in the world, and so for them to want her executed over a name is absolutly stupid to be honest with you.

I do agree that islam is a very beautiful region.. but I also have to turn what you said about us hating the muslims, most of us dont hate them. However when you say that you could easily say that the muslims dont no enough about the christians because they keep trying to kill us!

Answer #12

well islam is okay to me cause some pppl in my family are islams and stuff but not everyone is a terrorist and they are not taought to be terrorist in church they are taought to be good and help the poor and also they pray 5 tomes a day cause they love god and teh prophets and that they want to go to heaven and also if a women is raped or whatever the brother ot teh family CANT kill her OMG they hardly care about trying to keep their family name…your thinking of the japenese (in the past)

Answer #13

magictink: I’ll stick to the UK and the US and the recent past for simplicity:

  • Multiple attacks by the IRA and the “Real IRA”
  • The Oklahoma City Bombing by Timothy McVeigh.
  • Attacks by the Jewish Defense League
  • Luke Helder , the “Midwest Pipe Bomber”
  • Miles Cooper’s letterbomb campaign.

Is that enough to start with?

Answer #14

arachnid: 5 attacks, that were not widely spread across the news, however all the major and I mean major attacks like -9/11, -the pentagon -the london tube bombings -7/11 -all the suicide bombings -all the muslims that have been pulled from there homes for trying to make bomds, have all been by muslims.

Im sorry but the majority of terrorist attacks are by the muslim comunities!!!

Answer #15

I know I’m probably oversimplifying here but if anyone has an idea about the Palestine/Israel issue and how meddling in Middle Eastern affairs by foreign countries/interests (especially with enormous support to Israel to help combat their ‘poor’ neighbors) takes a toll on a people that are not necessarily just united by borders but also on their beliefs, some pictures may emerge about these recent terrorism acts, all of which are fueled by equally demented persons claiming to do so in the name of a Great Religion that preaches tolerance and peace upon other belief systems.

You cannot possibly assume that a religion which at least earlier years was gaining the fastest amount of followers is based on tenets of hurting others (would-be converts). It’s just not practical for Islam’s philosophy to spread that way.

In any case it’s a sad event when lives are lost on any account and made even worse by rhetoric from politicians and irresponsible media.

The truth really is out there and one cannot sit here in these times just going on what media mentions without researching it themselves.

Just ask yourself, situations in Africa are far worse and out of control (the raping/pillaging in Darfur) but US/EU interests aren’t as strong and therefore the world doesn’t want to pull together to help things there.

There is far more investment capital in places like Iraq and the rest of the Middle East.

I can’t remember who said (something similar to this) but it’s been said that persons of poorer circumstances having nothing will perpetuate towards violence and aggression because they ‘truly’ have nothing to lose. Just give them the resources to be good able bodied well rounded mentally healthy individuals/nations and they will sit around talking about peace all day too.

Answer #16

All but one of the 5 items I listed covered entire categories of multiple attacks. The point remains - terrorist attacks are far from being solely a Muslim pass-time.

Not to mention “all the muslims that have been pulled from there homes for trying to make bomds(sic), have all been by muslims” is a tautology.

Answer #17

amans13 I’m a muslim, I used to go to the mosque but I dont recall anyone teaching me how to blow up myself or be of harm to others. there are extremists in all religions, you can’t just pick one and say they are all terrorists. Those that are terrorists have misinterpreted the Quran.

Muslims don’t pray to have their sins forgiven, they repent when the fact has sinked in that they have comitted wrong doings. Muslims pray to be guided to the right path, they pray so they have firm belief in One lord, Allah (swt), they pray not only forthemselves but for others to be guided also.

What annoys me is how as soon as someone mentions Islam all fingers point to Terrorists, Muslim terrorists. Whether you belong to religion or not there are extremists/terrorists how about I turn the table round.

*extremism was the Jonestown massacre in Guyana in 1978 in which approximately 913 people were led to their Death by their leader Jim Jones.

*David Coresh at Waco Texas was another who gave way to using Christianity in conjunction with murder of the innocents. While many groups claim it was the US Government that burned Camp Davidian and its occupants to the ground.

*Adolf Hitler, military and political leader of Germany 1933 - 1945, launched World War Two and bears responsibility for the deaths of millions, including six million Jews in the Holocaust.

amans13…word of advice…make sure you know the facts about a religion before you judge.

No offense to anyone

Answer #18

I understand that it is a sin to name an object after a prophet or god, but are you telling us that when we were watching the news and seeing all the sudaniese shouting and protesting that she should be executed, or in the very least be LASHED!!! for naming a teddy bear, then maybe dont you think that they need to rethink that law abit because it was also told that she put the bear roud the claass and the students named him! so shuldnt the sutdent who chose the name be punsihed to? the fact of the matter was she was detained for naming a teddy which is pathetic, and the fact that there was a chance that she was going to be killed because of it.

dont you think that maybe its time for a change in the law!!! she named the teddy after the boy in her class, not the prophet!! what would happen if christian named her son mohammed would she put to the dealth penalty or be lashed 40 times because she is doing wrong?

Answer #19

I do admire the dedication to pray 5 times a day. I just wish everyone who claims to be Muslim (or Christian, for that matter) were as good and as obedient to God as they should be.

Answer #20

amans13 what do you she should be thankful that someone went to their country and did charity work because they did not ask for chairty they ask for help if a country was suffering from loss of food you dont do it out of chairity you do it because you care!!! And to magictink not all muslims are terriosts… any act of violence is a terriost act. How many people in america have killed or harmed a person? How many people go to shoot people with a gun or blow them up because they think it’s fun? There are terriost acts all over the world and they are inflicted by HUMANS. Humans from america, london, japan, irac, washington dc,canada, any where in the world really so dont base it like you said only muslims are the real terriost!!

Answer #21

It’s funny how people turn on Islam when it comes to trerrorism but how many muslims turn on your religion and the acts you carry out? you know who I’m amimg this at so I won’t mention any names

Answer #22

Observation: Purports to be the ‘Religion of Peace’ - yet appears to be the ‘Religion of Perpetual Outrage’ (wanting to harm, kill, behead over a book, cartoon, teddybear, or most anything) - appears to desire to force ‘infidels’(those who believe anything else)to adopt Islam or else - I never hear/read about those in the religion, condemning the acts perpetraited on innocents in the name of Islam, they appear to just ‘go along’/support through their deafening silence - appear to not respect women at all - my observations - some others: Jesus Christ can be mocked in the Middle East without any consequences.

Muslim leaders can venture to the Vatican at Rome, the ancient center of Christianity, to consult with the pope about the necessity of more interfaith understanding. But should a pope or clergyman want to reciprocate by venturing to Mecca, he better convert to Islam first. New mosques and conversions to Islam are common in the West. But to send missionaries to, or build a new church in, Saudi Arabia, Sudan or Pakistan is to court death. Condescension is also required. The demonstrator who waves a sword calling for a beheading is often excused. The poor guy must not be educated, rather than just cruel and dangerous. “We’re so sorry for the little mix-up” is the public Western answer to the shout of “Death to you!”
