What:do cigerettes make you skinner?

Odd question but it seems to me the more I smoke the skinner I get and same with my friends. So ois it true or am I just imagining things or somethin

Answer #1

Smoking raises your basal metabolic rate by about 15%. It is not just that smokers may loose weight because they dont eat as much. So, if a smoker was to quit smoking, they would have to eat less than normal, or exercise more to accomodate for the drop in metabolic rate that occurs after quitting.

Smoking may make you skinny, but it also gives you rinkles, makes the skin look dull, gives you cancer (sometimes at a younge age), contributes to heart disease, and a whole host of other things.

Answer #2

Cigarettes don’t necessarily make you lose weight. But most smokers experience weight loss, because cigarettes act as an appetite filler. Kinda like a diet pill, but a very unhealthy version.

Answer #3

I really don’t know if they make a person skinny, I do know that people who quit smoking (even skinny people) gain quite a bit of weight, and part of this weight gain is that quitting slows the metabolism . Course the trade off is cancer…so is it worth it?

Answer #4

Oh and another thing, most people that make the attempt to quit smoking need something to occupy there hands with, that being food so instead of actually losing weight like your questions states the user might end up gaining weight if they ever feel the need to quit simply because there hands have to be occupied by something other than a cig.
