Can you really dye your hair with food dye?

I heard somewhere that you can use hair dye to put like little streaks of color into your hair or something. Is this true? And if it is, does it wash out when you wash your hair?

Answer #1

this only works with really light shades of blonde hair and I really dont reccomend it. it clogs your hair folicals. the sugar from koolaid and whatnot is horrible for your hair and it dries it if you dont wash it really well. food coloring does nothing but it does wash right out. all in all I dont recommend it.

Answer #2

Yes. It’s actualy better for the hair than hairdye because off all the toxans in it, but it comes out faster. You would constantly apply it if you chose this method.

Answer #3

It washes out… my friend had me try that on her hair… food coloring, Kool-Aid, Sharpies, they all wash out..

Answer #4

Well it probably would turn it a different colour if you had fair hair, but it would definitely wash straight back out again as soon as you washed it… Xo:)
