What can I do to take care of my voice (I sing)?

I sing ALLOT!! If Im not up in my room singing, Im either at school, with friends, or in tallent shows singing. Well, after a while of singing my voice tends to crack up and I cant sing as well. It really bothers me.. So I need to know how to take care of my voice. Also when I wake up in the morning, my voice is gone. I cant sing unless I want people to think Ima bout to die up there (in my room) lol. So.. Is there anything I can do to fix that as well? Thanks in advance :)

Lemonade realllyyy helps with keeping and savoring your voice. Before every performance, its best to suck on a lemon. lol, I know thats weird, but its suppose to help a lot!

Answer #2

well. I am a singer to. I cant give out my name and my username is not real either. (im a little famous) im always up on stage infornt of thousands of people and my voice does that to sweetheart. What I do, and you should try to, is not to sing as much. just rest yuor voice and it will go away. and drink lots of water. and one last thing, do voice streches. like, la la la la la la la. and the stuff in highschool musical. lol.

                                                      love, MC

Twilightgirl.. Thanks.. lol I wont do the lemonaid thing then, and I dont drink nething like that neways. I frown upon drinking soda and such. Usually all I drink is Water.. Milk andd orange juice sometimes.. but usually just water. Actually I love pineapple.. so pineapple juice would work for me :) Thanks :)

Answer #4

what do you mean by dont strain your voice.. I hear that allot.. but dont understand what they mean.. and yea.. I would swim but I have a phobia of being in water…

Answer #5

Don’t whisper, or strain your voice because this has a bad impact on your vocal chords.

When performing, always drink some water it helps to keep your throat moisturized.

Remember to be active as well, laziness can make your voice weaker; swimming is usually best for singers.

Hope This Helped.

Answer #6

I think Humidifirers are supposed to help by adding mostuire to the air you could keep one on in your room while you sleep

Answer #7

Lol thanks.. But I do like lemonaid, but I hate just lemons.. What then? Would just lemonAID help?

Answer #8

our choir teacher explained that lemon juice makes your throat feel better when its sore but it shortens your vocal chords so singing right after may hurt them more, not drinking soda or drinks with a lot of caffine helps as does warm non-caffine tea, the best thing that he tels us to do and as disgusting as it sounds it works no lie, pineapple juice is really good for your voice…warm pineapple juice is even better…I know that sounds gross but it works

alexis99999… you are not a singer. However, that is not the point of this. If you want to take care of your voice, you cannot sing ALL of the time. It is okay to practice, but not for hours at a time. Try singing for 30 minutes at a time, taking 15 minute breaks in between, but don’t sing for more than 2 hours a day. And when you find that your voice is gone, hot chocolate should help ;). Read this for more info on taking care of your voice: http://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/voice/takingcare.htm
