What can I do to help my bladder infection?

I had a doctors appointment and when I was there he took a urine sample, days later they called and said I have a bladder infection. They gave me medication that’s okay during pregnancy to help the infection go away. The receptionist said to take the pills for 10 days and then go in there for a re-sample to make sure the infection passed.

So Im done the pills, took them as directed. I tried to call today to make that appointment but I kept getting a busy signal then they closed.

I still have the bladder infection, I can feel it, its quite painful for me right now and I don’t know what to do. Im out of pills and my doctor office is closed till Tuesday, there aren’t any weekend clinics or anything.

What to do?

You might call your local ER and speak to a Nurse or Dr and they can advise - hope you feel better soon !!

you can go to the pharmacy and ask for cystemme or get HARLEMENSIES!I know how you feel.I get bladder infections all the time.Dont forget WATER,WATER all the time!and the cranberry juice helps. If you burning real bad relax in a warm bath with no bubbles because that will make it worse.

things that will help with a bladder infection are having a cranberry juice/water only diet until you go see your doctor. Don’t hold your pee, go as soon as you need to! especially since you are pregnant. When you do go back to the doctors request to have precribed for you Macrobid. It works wonders. When I was younger about 7 years old (I’m 23 now) I had to have that every day of my life for 3 years because I would get them all the time. They finally took me off it and I just started having problems again about a year ago. They put me back on Macrobid every day and I haven’t had any problems since. See all the other medications are for bacteria infections in general, but Macrobid is specifically for bladder infections. So I hope all goes well for you and your little one to be!

Right go into your supermarket or pharmacy and ask for cystisis releif medicine. They will help but you must take them as directed, usually it’s for about 3days. The sachets taste AWFUL but it’s worth it for the relief you get. You may still need to go the doctor afterwards depending on how bad the infection is. And also drinking lots of water does help! Canberry juice makes the lining of your tract slippery so bacteria can’t stick to it, so it can help prevent them but there is little/no evidence that it helps once you’ve actually got a UTI. Hope this helps x

Lots of cranberry juice, water, water, water.

Go to a medical supply store and buy some straight catheters. There are specific ones for women and men. A man uses a French 14. Also buy some sterile lubricant, a box of alcohol wipes, and a box of gloves. Try to be as clean as possible like you are going to perform open heart surgery. There is actually a straight cath kit that also has Povodine or Xenodine. Use the catheter at least once per day to totally empty your bladder. It helps eliminate growth medium the virus or bacteria need. There is some debate on reusing catheters but doing so eventually guarantees reinfection. Some people boil them, others rinse in alcohol. Better always to throw them away.
