I think it’s good for a lot of reasons - not exoposed to cursing, drug, obscene comments, bullying, often times, gutter atmosphere of public schools where God is never mentioned and very often mocked - they can stay at home and get a good solid education without having to go through that - being taught by someone that truely loves them, cares, and teaches them solid core values and how to be responsibe - a great example today is Tim Tebow, quarterback for the Florida Gators - totally homeschooled, extremely successful - so I think it’s a great idea if you’re able to do it.

I don’t get taught by a parent I do school at home online. I know a lot of people that talk down on it because they say you are anti social and can’t have any friends. I get the same maybe even better education than those in public schools and I have just as many friends and still go out and take dance classes. It teaches you a lot of independence for college and later in life. You are not looking for someone to be pushing you every part of the way like in a regular public school. I really can’t say one thing bad about it

If I had children, I’d want them to attend a public school, if not a private school. The best you can do, in my opinion, is mix conventional schooling with supplemental education at home.

To be honest, I don’t think most parents are educated in every aspect of the curriculum enough to provide a balanced education, especially in higher grades. Even supposing they are, I think the biggest problem with homeschooling is that it’s a stagnant educational environment. One of the most valuable aspects of a good education is being exposed to new ideas, traditions, cultures, and philosophies. This exposure is necessarily part of a balanced person in a world that’s increasingly made smaller. No matter how balanced a parent might try to be, they can’t turn off their biases, and they can’t encompass the range of viewpoints a child would experience in school.

If your concern is that your child is only taught your religion or culture, homeschooling might seem like a good idea, but I don’t think it is in the long run. Eventually your child is going to have to leave the nest, whether it’s high school, college or the workplace, and when they do they aren’t going to be prepared to deal with alternative viewpoints. Your best efforts may even be counterproductive: If you impose your views on your children too adamantly you’re likely to push them into rebelling against them.

I agree that most schools aren’t providing a proper education, but supplementing the school’s work with your own at home will take care of that, and you won’t be limiting the development of your children.
