What are memos?

I’m working on my homework and I had to read and answer some questions. I did that but I don’t understand one of the answers I had to give from the reading. The question was “What kinds of texts will you read on the job?” and one of the answers was “memos”. Anybody know what memos are when it comes to jobs? The reading didn’t say what they were, just that they are one of the text types. Its not really something I HAVE to know, but I’m curious and like to understand my answers.

like here is an example if you and your friends all were planning on wearing blue and sent out a msg that said wear blue and the next day somebody showed up in red then you would be like “didnt you get the memo”

you would send a memo to everyone in the office…the entire staff as a manager or director or sorts..it would be typed on a letter head usually with some kind of update..or a reminder like when w meeting is scheduled..something like that

Memos = Memorandom

 They are formal letters within a business, company, or organization which address particular needs, certain updates, and variuos other internal affairs of any given functioning body.
