Uhhh it means that the person who said it doesn’t know! Like if you ask a question and someone answers “I don’t know” they don’t know the answer. You must be pretty dumb not to know that lol

Answer #11

is a state of indifference, or the suppression of emotions such as concern, excitement, motivation and passion. An apathetic individual has an absence of interest or concern to emotional, social, or physical life. They may also exhibit an insensibility or sluggishness.

Answer #12

whoever gave the answer “i don’t know” obviously knows the answer but they are attempting to avoid an argument because they know that they would lose it if it were to arise. if you are the one receiving this answer, know this: you have won any arguments that would have come up.

Answer #13

whomever gave the answer “i don’t know” obviously knows the answer but they are attempting to avoid an argument because they know that they would lose it if it were to arise. if you are the one receiving this answer, know this: you have won any arguments that would have come up.

Answer #16

please excuse comments above by A Man. that was my account, but it was hacked and the password was changed. “i don’t know” is truly the most neutral answer one can give. if someone asked switzerland what side of either world wars they supported, they would say “i don’t know.” there is no more neutral an answer than i don’t know and if you say it, you are in no way involving yourself in any sort of argument. i apologize for A Man’s misinformation–i’m working on regaining control of my account.

Answer #17

I am sorry for this very confusing series of posts. The Real Man is not in fact the real man. He is a fraud. I don’t know is actually a death threat and upon hearing such a phrase you should show great offense and slap that fraud of a man across the face. Fervently, A Man

Answer #18

As you can see, my hacker changed my gender to female, which clearly refutes my obvious screen name. Moreover, I never use the word fervently and am a pacifist. If you ask any english-speaking, lucid human being, they will agree that “I don’t know” is in no way a malicious or argumentative phrase. Please disregard all of A Man’s posts.

Answer #19

actually as my screen name denotes, i am a man, as in any man so my opinions represent the opinions of the masses–the right opinion. You, on the other hand, represent one sole man who’s opinion counts for almost nothing. Fervently, A Man

Answer #20

We, the masses, have collectively decided that “I don’t know” is an entirely neutral answer. We noted that A Man uses the words “I” and “my,” denoting a personal, or at least subjective opinion. We have decided that The Real Man is a better representation of the truth and we agree with him. A Man, you are outnumbered and should resign gracefully. The Real Man is the clear winner in this argument.

Answer #21

Well, the masses, you know what I have to say to you? I don’t know. Take that. -A Man

Answer #22

As “I don’t know” is a neutral response, we shall interpret it is as a peace treaty. A man cannot know everything and thus we accept your treaty. hand shake

Answer #23

If by “handshake” you mean “slap in the face” then yes. It is agreed upon. -A Man

Answer #24

If by “handshake” you mean “slap in the face” then yes. It is agreed upon. -A Man

Answer #25

We understand that different people have different ways of concluding peace treaties and thus we shall accept a slap in the face in the place of a handshake. slap in the face

Answer #26

I don’t know about you guys, but real men have real lives. I, for one, can accept the dictionary definition of the words in the phrase “I don’t know” and I have a basic understanding of the english language. Hence, I know that the phrase “I don’t know” is not argumentative. Arguing with crazy, irrational people, is, in it of itself, crazy and irrational. Therefore, I will take the rational, sane, and manly option and go write my English paper, as I have better things to do than argue with the insane.

Answer #27

As The 1 Percent, although I am only 1 percent of the population, I control 99 percent of the decisions. And I say that I don’t know is an aggressive, argumentative statement and anyone who uses such a statement as a way to deter an argument is not only a loser but an impotent person. -The 1 Percent

Answer #28

As God, I declare that The 1 Percent and A Man are correct.

Answer #29

Though I don’t want to admit it, I agree entirely with The Real Man and The Masses, and I know that The 1 Percent, A Man, and I am God are just attempting to argue a losing battle. I give in; I am the loser in this argument.

Answer #30

Jennifer, I appreciate your resignation, but if it means that much to you, you may have this argument. You are young and will learn how to argue will learn better debate skills when you mature. Moreover, you will learn when to resign to in an argument. But since you are young and naive and I have an unfair advantage over you, you may consider yourself the winner of this argument.

Answer #31

Bridgit, I hope someone farts in your face. Sincerely, Brahma

Answer #32

Brahma: Though I appreciate the Hindu faith, I am not Hindu myself. Furthermore, the person running your account is atheist, so I don’t think this bodes well for either of us. Sincerely, Bridgit

Answer #33

You should all be writing me right now… You guys probably have the worst time management skills I have seen in a while. I’M DUE TOMORROW.
