way , way back- they used to be able to walk around on land- but millions of years- they returned to the ocean where their weight was better supported- their limbs became flippers- and they got BIGGER.

water to them is like air to us. its just how they’re built.
kind like worms I guess? they dry out on dry land and or concrete because their skin needs to be moist
