Creative commons is a music license for people who make music but who do not have and/or do not want a contract with any record label. Many of them put their music on the internet for free so othery can listen to it. So you will find a lot of cr*p there but also some very cool and new stuff. You will not find mainstream music there.

If you want mainstream music, find out whether stream recording is legal where you live. In my country, file sharing is illegal but mere downloading is legal. Because in the file sharing platforms you are also offering the stuff to the world. So in my place it is legal to listen to songs on youtube for example and record them while they play. There are free recorder programs where you can put a link in and get an audio file out.
