What is a good software to manage websites?

In my opinion, I find the code that Dreamweaver writes sucks. It’s less bloated than Front Page, but still bloated. If you really want to build websites and manage them, you really need to know how to write the code yourself using a text editor like Homesite, Coffee Cup HTML editor, etc. Or if you’re on a Mac, BBEdit is a good choice.

However none of these are free. Coffee Cup will allow you to use it, but there is a nag banner that will remind you that you need to by it. My biggest complaint about folks who go into business selling themselves as web masters or website developers are that they use WYSIWYG software to build the sites and know next to nothing about security or writing good clean code. It’s these types of sites that get hacked and used to spam millions of people every day. Nothing beats taking the time to learn your craft. Do it well enough and you’ll be very successful. Rush into it, make huge mistakes, and no one will ever trust you again.
