water deposit first time home buyer

we are moving this next weekend and right now we rent but we will be buying our first home and I was wondering if anyone knows how much it would cost in san antonio to get the water turned on. I know you need to put down a deposit. but how much is it. and also we qualify for the first time homebuyers $2500 tax return. and the is like a $220 filing fee. what is that. and is that due on the day of move in.

Answer #1

Just call the local water utility (and other utilities) to find out what amount their deposit is for new utility users. Sometimes they let you pay part of it upon opening your account and the balance with your first month’s bill.

I think you mean that you qualify for the $2500 tax DEDUCTION. I wouldn’t think that there is a “filing fee” for that because that is something you would do when you file your IRS forms by next April 15th. You might check with a real estate lawyer or another Realtor to see if they might be trying to rip you off for $220.

Answer #2

You better get in touch with a reputable real estate agent in your area and ask about that tax return and filing fee. It doesn’t sound legit to me.

Answer #3

oh and I dont know if this makes any difference but she also said that we could wait to have the $2500 in january or we could get it now. so is it maybe that if we file it now and get it now we have to pay a 220 fee.
