I think before you go any futher with your boyfriend you should learn more about your own body. I think it is great that you are asking help and getting it but it worries me that you are 14 and I don’t want you to regret any choices you make at this age. Anyways, yes that could have been your “cherry” it’s called your hymen. If it hurt when you pressed on it and you couldn’t go up any furthur that’s probley what it was.

Whenever you are having sex for the first time, it may be uncomfortable when he breaks through your hymen - but it’s not a lot of pain, and it will go away after he get’s through. You need to make sure that you use lube though so that he doesn’t hurt you.
