Video Voyeurism

Is hiding cameras in people’s homes, in public stores, and whatnot without the owner’s or people’s consent illegal (if not, it should be)? If so, in how many states?

Answer #1

haha @ flyswordfish.. no, I’m not doing it. I had to do a report on it for TV production but couldn’t find much information on it on google. thanks everyone. :]

Answer #2

Oh snap I just put a camera out side my apartment in the city door because I have a very creepy satanic/gothic/I don’t know just creepy looking person staying right infront of my unit…yeah got it home security it’s not illegal…andit’s connected to my computer…well Thank GOd for that.Whew!

Answer #3

yes in every 1 because technically you arent allowed to eavesdrop or spy etc unless your fbi, cia etc so there for many different laws would cover this, but for some to get around it they could say it is home secuirty system if it either records to computer or a system and without your consent to be recorded by someone other that fbi or cia it would be considered as a breach of privacy

Answer #4

Interestingly, most laws do not make video recording without consent illegal. It is under the audio portion that it is illegal. I believe wire tapping laws are covering that.

Answer #5

um yes. if you are doing it. stop before it traces back to you. if you found one, report it because that person just infringed on at least one of the admendments

Answer #6

Yea that should really be illegal…
