How long is vet school?

You need to have a competitive GPA this is most important in your chemistry, math, and biology related classes. I suggest over 12 hours a semester (14-17), they place a great importance on how well you can handle stress during college. Vet school is very hard and stressful, and you need to be able to show you can do well in many classes. I suggest working in a vet clinic, even if you only shadow and don’t get paid because, on your application they ask about experience, furthermore you will need letters of recommendation and this gives you a vet to ask. You will also need to place a really good impression on some of your college professors so that you will have one of them for a letter of recommendation later on, networking is so important, if you can work part-time for a professor, even better. Don’t forget about volunteer work and extracurricular activities, they look to see if you are a well rounded person, join your schools pre-vet club but do more than just joining you need to go out of your way to set yourself apart from others, this may mean you need to spend spring break helping raise money for a charity. Don’t limit yourself to just animal type of clubs and volunteer work, remember they want someone that is well rounded. You will have to take the GRE test as part of the application process, study early this test score is important. Furthermore, you will have to write an essay about why you want to be a vet, please start early (1 year or more), get help from a professional, and do many drafts.
