Vet assistant

I am taking online courses for vet asst. Should that be enough to get my foot in the door? Thanx

Answer #1

no I’m sure you would have to do a lot of research still. but your almost there.

Answer #2

It will help with the theory side but of course you need practical experience. You may be able to get work experience (unpaid) to add to your resume and help get a proper job further down the track. I worked as a vet assistant for about 1 month after studying the course at school and I hated it - but that might be because I was WAY too sensitive to handle animals dying in front of me :(

Answer #3

I got my foot in the door as a receptionist and was taking online vet assistant classed, the place I work you did not need to much experiance. So about 6 months later on of our assistants went off to school to become a Vet Tech, I told the doctor/ owner how much I wanted that vet assistant position and I got it. Have been there a total of two years now, The classes helped me understand things but did not do much for me getting the job
