Is it healthy for a teen to be vegetarian?

Is it healthy for a teen to be a vegitarian? If I become one should I take any kind of suplments?

Answer #1

yes, as long as you get enough protein from beans and seeds and junk. im a peskatarian (I eat fish) but I eat TONS of protein

Answer #2

my cousin, girfriend is budhist and vegetarian, all her life and she couldn’t be healthier, she is happy, not too fat or too skinny, her hair is gorgeous naturally, her skin is spotless and I ve seen her without make up. I think yeah being vegetarian is not unhealthy and she doesnt use suplements.

Answer #3

A vegetarian diet can be healthy. For most people going vegetarian leads them to eating a lot healthier than they did before. Going vegetarian isn’t a guaranty of a healthy diet though. Soda pop and potato chips are vegan after all. If you eat lots of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits you should be fine.

If you are a strict vegan (no meat, fish, foul, dairy, or eggs) you should take a supplement containing B12 but if you even occasionally eat eggs or dairy you should be fine without supplementation.

I’ve been a vegetarian for 28 years.

Answer #4

Grrr. It won’t let me put it in health!

Answer #5

I would research it very well. There are plenty of vegitarians that are prefectly healthy.

Answer #6

it is but if you want to become vegetarian you can’t just cut off all meat right away you have to cut back little by little because some people get sick that way

Answer #7

The unhealthy vegetarians are the ones who don’t plan their meals following dietary guidelines. Just eating ‘the vegetarian option’ in restaurents etc probably won’t be healthy for you. But learning about nutrition and organising your own meals properly should be perfectly healthy.
