Is the vandalism of a Calgary war memorial a sign that Canadians are losing respect for fallen soldiers?

One of Calgary’s new war memorials had graffiti spray painted across it, only days before Remembrance Day.

Do you think this is simply an isolated act of vandals who didn’t care where they hit, or do you think this is the first of many more vandals to come?

Quite possibly just a random act of vandalism without regard for the signifigance of the memorial, like ‘because it was there”. There is an old historical cemetery down the road from us with civil war soldiers buried there and veterans of other wars. When I was a teenager, the gates where always unlocked and we used to drive in there to go parking or party, whatever. We always closed the gates back when we left and never even thought about vandalizing anything. Recently someone went in there and turned over nearly every tombstone, breaking over half of them, spun their tires over gravesites and made a mess of it. Why? I think just because. Lots of disrespectful people in the world
