What are your opinions on women in the navy?

Ive been thinking about going to the navy, I jsut wanna no if its a good decision, or if its safe, I kinda feel like im doin it for the wrong reason’s, because my real reason for even considering the navy, is i really dont have a direction in life, like im 20 year’s old and im still not sure on what i wanna do with my life, Im attending a community college rite now, and im doin so,so but i really dnt think its for me, So i really have no idea what i wanna do for a career at this point. and well my parent’s think i should go to the navy, but i think they just want to do something anything. And im just confused, so if yu can give me any thoughts or opinions about the navy, i would be greatful.

They should choose brighter colours! You know … navy (blue) … Ok … bad joke … in all seriousness, it’s something that can push a woman to her limits … it won’t be an easy life, but it will be a fulfilling life.

That’s a really nice ambition. It can build up to be a better woman with more discipline and maturity. It can give you a great future in later years….

Great stuff girl, i wish you the best in your endeavors

Navy and the Air Force are very good choices for women in your situation. I was in the Marines and is too male oriented. I imagine the Army would be the same. Beware that in the Navy you could end up in a Battleship or a refueling ship for six months at sea sleeping in very tight quarters while in the Air Force you more than likely be in land.

I think it’s a great thing. The forces be they the navy, army or air shouldnt be based on what gender you are. It should be purely down to the abilities that person have (be they female or male) to serve their country in wars and battles eg afghanistan etc. God bless you, and all the others brave enough to think about and even go out and serve their country. You have my upmost respect.

I think, if you are mentally and physically capable, then it would be a great career. It will push you, and it’s hard work, but it will be so rewarding. I’m going to be a police woman, maybe you could look into that. There are so many branches off the policing career. Firefighting is also good but a lot of it is by volunteering. You could go to an information night, I know we have Navy and Marine info nights where I live (New Zealand) so maybe your country has them too. Overall, I think it’s a great experience and could shape you into a more confident woman, maybe after a few years you may find something (a job) you love that is related to the Navy. Best of luck.
