What is University life like?

Is there going to be a lot of partner/group projects? or mostly essays?

Answer #1

Those are two separate questions. But for the work part, it entirely depends on what you’re majoring in. If you’re majoring in the sciences, there’s fewer essays and fewer partner/group projects. If you major in english, there’s probably going to be lots of essays. I did psychology. A few group projects, maybe a handful. Most of my classes had at least one essay. Most of it was exams though.

different for everyone, depending on personality and also what degree programme you enrol in. Some of the papers I have taken involved group work, but the vast majority of my assessments have been individual lab reports, scientific papers, internal and external exams. I have found the humanities papers I took were more likely to involve group work, but I did a science degree where everything was more individual. University life for me was quite lonely when I first started, and I was very homesick for most of the first year. It got a lot better though, once I started getting more involved with everything. I love it now, which is good since I think I will be studying/working at universities for a long time! I love the atmosphere, all the academics in my department are wonderful to be around, both to work with and to socialise with.
