How to understand the real reason of pain?

I’ve been stopped by my best friend a few months ago, saying that I shouldn’t complain about my feet aching after standing for a long period of time, in front of her, as she stopped me and said directly that she’s over 200 lbs, a lot of weight on her feet and she knows the ‘REAL’ pain. Does it honestly matter for someone to approach you saying they’re over weight and know the pain feeling they have, compared to someone like me, under 140 yet having a pain in my feet, though that pissed her off when I said it doesn’t matter by your weight. What are your opinions? Because honestly it really irritates me that she said that.

That’s kind of hard to answer! XD well, I don’t think she should have confronted you about you because you were just saying that your feet hurt. It’s not like you were going around telling EVERYBODY that your feet hurt. She has a point that her feet will hurt more because she has more weight to carry. But she doesn’t have a right to say something to you about it because (I’m not trying to be mean by any means) it’s her own fault that she is over 200lbs, she can change that so her feet won’t hurt as badly, she chooses not to.

In the end, I don’t think she should have said that. You were just saying your feet hurt, that’s all.

I think she just felt irritated because she feels she is going through a hard time. Maybe she is jealous of you for having less weight than her? I think weight and aches related to weight are touchy topics for her, so talk to her about it and understand each others feelings. :)

Pain is not absolute. Just because someone may be heavier than someone else, doesn’t make their pain any more unbearable. We don’t know the pain others bear … we only know our own pain. In the end, we all feel pain in varying levels - it’s how we choose to carry that burden that defines us.

Thats just stupid. First off your friend is saying it as if she was a victim of obesity, which is pretty prude (i think thats the right term :P)

secondly, the real pain is not really measurable since every person has their own pain threshold. thirdly its no one fault she is over 200lbs, while her feet may pain from sitting around all day yours come from moving around all day, there is a difference :O also you may suggest she go do an X ray of her kneecaps, she may have arthritis, which would explain the constant pain
