How is Ubuntu advantageous over Windows XP operating systems?

Answer #1

Well in my opinion using only windows is better . But many people thinks installing Ubuntu inside windows is better in case of good operating speed a and design. They claim to have “secure, intuitive operating system that powers desktops, servers, netbooks and laptops” . You can try it out by downloading and installing Ubuntu from their website , it’s free

Answer #2
  • Windows is more widespread, therefore there are more viruses that are coded to affect windows.

  • Ubuntu is for free. Legally.

  • There are multiple non-commercial programs in Ubuntu. Like office products, games, multimedia stuff and everything. And that you can just download and install with the system. For free. Legally.

  • Also, Ubuntu is an “Open source” software. That means if you were a programmer you could look at the complete program code. There are many people in the world who work on that code together. In Windows the code is secret. This also means that Microsoft could secretly build in a back-door for the CIA to monitor your computer. They say they don’t but if you are paranoid, any Linux is your System of choice. And Ubuntu is the easiest Linux for people who are not tech scientists.

Answer #3

Depends on what you want and need. Linux has a better security model than Windows plus as rotten points out it is immune to most viruses that target Windows. Windows also suffers more from “creeping software rot.” After a couple of years of use Windows machines start to have various problems that nobody can track down and the only way to fix is to reinstall. This can happen to Linux if people constantly mess with it or if they do experimental stuff but generally Linux stays healthy forever. Ubuntu is better than most Linux but it still has a steeper learning curve than Windows. For most users it takes more time and effort to learn how do a particular task using Ubuntu than it would with Windows. Ubuntu is free both in price and you are free to do nearly anything you wish with it. Reverse engineering, hacking or using in a way prohibited by Microsoft on a Windows system goes against the End User License Agreement and can lead to prosecution under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Nobody is going to prosecute or sue you over how you use Ubuntu.

Answer #4

Ubuntu is harder to learn only because you know older versions of windows. For someone who never knew any computer system, I’d say its equal learning curve.
