Who has two or more jobs?

I’m 30, and while I don’t have two jobs, I have two businesses, does that count? When I was 16, my day job was helping at my parents video store (renting movies, etc) and my summer job was working for my dad selling clothing.

I know a lot of people with two jobs…though, none of them are in school. While in college, I had a work study job, and a second job, because I was on financial aid and their allowance is pitiful in the US.

While you’re young, though…if your family needs the help, then it makes sense to have a job to help out, but try to do well in school so you can go to a good college, and get scholarships. Paying back student loans takes forever.

As to the why…well, CEO’s of companies used to make twice as much as the COO about 20 years ago. Now in the US the average CEO makes 4 times as much as the COO. So, all those mullions of dollars at Ford, GM, IBM, Microsoft, The Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc…well, they have to squeeze somebody at the company to pay the CEO’s expanded check.

Clearly, I have a lop sided view…I’m sure other people will see the economic situation through a different lens Growing up poor (as in, the bottom 20% bracket) makes you have a certain jaded perspective :)
