A male turtle will have very long front claws, and an elongated tail, with the cloaca located closer to the tip, as well as a concave plastron (the bottom shell) this is an adaptation that allows the male to have a little bit more “grip” when he is mounting the female.
A female turtle will generally have short front claws and a stubby tail with the cloaca (opening for excriment, and eggs in her case) located closer to the body.
