Is it likely I have TSS?

I have been very concerned that I could have TSS just as of today. It is the fourth day of my period, and I’ve been extra heavy so I’ve been using super plus tampons. This morning or maybe this afternoon (I have been FREEZING all day, but didn’t take my temp until about four) I developed a fever of 103 degrees F, I almost faint everytime I stand, and my head hurts. I’m under eight blankets and still freezing.

I wouldn’t go assuming you have something like TSS because:

your not trained as a gynecologist/doctor to make that kind of diagnosis in fact no one on here is either!
you may just be loosing a lot of blood & that causes the shakes as well as fainting…perhaps you may be anemic…I would schedule an appointment with your doctor/physician/gynecologist and allow them to actually give you the right diagnosis before speculation & jumping the gun. you could just have something as mild as the flu…a combo of a common cold plus the loss of blood causes you to feel faint & hve the chills as well!

To develop high risk of TSS, you need to leave a tampon in for a long period of time. You didn’t mention that?

Regardless, 103 is very high so I would definitely call your General Doctor AND gyno, see what they both say.

We aren’t doctors and are not trained to diagnose you! It amazes me that you have a temp of 103 and are typing to us here instead of calling your doctors! CALL THEM!

I doubt you have TSS…it’s very rare. It’s far more likely that you caught a bug, at the same time you happen to be having your period.

Tho, like Dara says…103 is a high temp, so you might want to go to the Dr. for that…
