Is it true that spraying hairspray on your Christmas tree will make it last longer?

Not the fake tree’s, the real ones.

Answer #1

Yes, I have heard that it keeps it from drying out- also some crushed aspirin in the water bowl of the tree stand is supposed to help. Merry Xmas !!

Answer #2

That also will make the leaves shinny :) HAPPY MARRY X MAS!!!

Answer #3

Isn’t hair spray flammable though? Careful leaving hot christmas lights burning for to long.

The crushed asprin is killer though….. I am going to try it!

Answer #4

I don’t believe hairspray is as flammable when dry.

Answer #5

BAD IDEA!!! As a volunteer firefighter I must warn you that Christmas trees are extremely dangerous as it is. Adding a flammable spray to an already combustible material could have devastating results should a fire occur. It’s diring this holiday season when more fires occure than any other time of year. Be sure to keep your tree watered, away from any heat sources including heaters, space heaters, candles, open flames, etc.. It is also a good idea to inspect your holiday lights before hanging them on your tree. Exposed wires, damged insulation, and frayed cords are the most common causes of Christmas tree fires. Remember it’s easier to spend $5 on a new set of lights than $5,000 to clean up smoke and water damage. Have a happy and safe holiday.

Answer #6

I can’t see why it would work… The tree died from the inside, not the outside :| Though I have heard that asprin and sugar in the tree’s water will help.

Answer #7

It’s supposed to keep the needles from falling so much, and keeping the tree greener for longer.
