Answer #1

The Japanese Canadian internment, the forced removal of more than 22,000 Japanese Canadians (Nikkei Kanadajin) during the Second World War by the Canadian government. This was the greatest mass movement in the history of Canada. The Nikkei were foresters and fishermen, miners and merchants, except for the industrialists who profited from cheap Asian labor, much of white British Columbia regarded the Japanese Canadians with suspicion and hostility. Over the years the Japanese Candadians had been targets of unremitting discrimination and occasional violence.
