What should I do on my trip to New York?

Hey, I’m vistiting NYC next month. I’m from England and it’s my 1st time there so i’m just wondering has anyone got any tips on where to go and what to see? Theres the obvious- Statue of Liberty, Empire state building etc.. But if anyone could tell me some other cool places that are worth visiting? Also any good and reasonably priced restaurants? And what clothes shops should I go in? And of course I’m a typical tourist so I shall be visiting all of the souvineer shops haha THANK YOU :)

Times square you should definitely visit. Grand central station is pretty awesome as well. I would also recommend a tour of the UN buildings (some nice artwork there). Museums…there are a few really good ones. Wall Street isn’t that cool, but it’s worth going just to say you went.

This time of year, it won’t be too cold…but bring some warmish clothes just in case.

Restaurants? Visit little italy, it’s a section of the city with great italian food. Check the reviews on yelp / tripadvisor for specific restaurants that cater to your wants.

As Jeremy said, Times Square and the theater district is a must. Plenty of souvenir shops, and restaurants. As far as shopping, I am not the best person to ask, but everything in NYC is pretty overpriced. At 47th and Broadway is the TKTS booth where you can get same-day discounted Broadway Show tickets. Rockefeller Center is just a few blocks from there also. On 46th street between 8th and 9th Avenue is Restaurant Row. There are probably 20 restaurants there. Also on 44th right off Broadway is Carmines, but that is family style and you really need a lot of people as the portions are huge and meant to be shared.

As far as museums, I would definitely go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of Natural History. The Met and the Natural History Museums are also right on Central Park. If you have time, although it is a long subway ride, you should go to the Cloisters. It is an offshoot of the Met Museum way uptown, but it is a great place. It looks like a medieval castle. You will not feel like you are in the city anymore. When you go downtown to get the ferry for Statue of Liberty (and Ellis Island if you have want), just few blocks east of the ferry is the South Street Seaport. There are some great restaurants over there, as well as the Seaport Museum. There is also Greenwich Village and the East Village. Lots of nice place to eat there. And if you do go to Little Italy, Chinatown is only a block over. A few other places outside of the Manhattan to visit are: the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Gardens, Coney Island & the New York Aquarium, and Jones Beach out on Long Island. I think that should be enough, but just let me know if you want more.
