transfering to a new phone

when you get a new phone…like I have the LG chocolate can I move everything incuding pictures music ringtones contacts and other applications like that to another LG like the DARE or do I have to get a sim card?

Answer #1

No, what the other two people said is incorrect. Verizon Wireless does not run off of a GSM network (like T-mobile, ATT, etc). It does not need a SIM card.

If you want to save your pictures, you need to purchase a Mini SD card and put your pictures on that. To make transfer all your pictures you can either do it one by one (the slow way, but this way you get to pick all the pictures you want) OR you can do a mass transfer.

To do a mass transfer, you need to go to the “Menu” (the OK button), then “Settings and Tools”, then “Memory”, then “Phone memory”. Click on “My Pictures” and then “Options”. Then “Move”. Then hit “Mark all” or it may be “Select all”. It will take a few minutes to transfer all the pictures.

Ring tones ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. You will need to RE-PURCHASE the ring tones. If you have ring BACK tones (the sound that OTHER people hear when they call you instead of ringing), those will automatically transfer over.

To save your contacts, you can simply download Backup Assistant. Follow the instructions (when it asks for a promotional code, just hit OK– you don’t need one). Make sure that you REMEMBER or WRITE DOWN the pin number that you choose. After that, you’re all set.

When you get your new phone activated, you just take out the MiniSD card from your old phone and put it in your new phone. Then you just have to download backup assistant and hit “restore” to restore all your contacts.

I work for Verizon Wireless, by the way, so if you have any other questions feel free to ask away :)

Answer #6

there are many suggestions on the internet but i think they are complex and inconvenient. I use a transfer and i think it is great. You need only four steps and your contacts will transfer from your old phone to your new one.
