What do I do with the eggs my Herman Tortoise laid?

My Herman Tortoise has just laid two eggs,what do I do now do I leave them where she has laid them?

In the event of eggs being laid, it is likely that they will be infertile, and in the case of fertile eggs being laid, and hatched, it is certain that any hatchlings will be infertile.

However if you think that they are fertile then they will need to be incubated. There are loads of incubators available, ranging in price and quality. Tortoise eggs need to be incubated at 30 – 33 degrees C for a period of 60 – 200 days depending on species, and the desired sex of the youngsters. A humidity of 70 – 80 % is reasonably standard for normal tortoise eggs. Tortoise eggs must not be turned whilst they are incubating, making a pencil mark on the top of the egg is a good way of preserving the position of the developing embryo.
